Welcome to our inspirational summer programmes! Whether it is brushing up on your English, exploring a new subject, learning a new skill or simply discussing the world, ORA have the perfect programme for you.

Our Tutors

Being based in Oxford means we have a wealth of expertise at our fingertips with top quality tutors in every field of study. Our teachers come from a variety of different backgrounds, some from University of Oxford and some well-established local tutors, offering a diverse range of teaching expertise. Our teaching has been rated extremely highly by our previous students, which is something we are very proud of.  The informal interaction between faculty and students combined with and an international mix of students makes for a truly fascinating learning environment.

Thanks to the range of expertises offered by our different tutors, we can also tailor make programmes in specific areas, so if there is something you would like to study with friends or colleagues, just let us know.

International Atmosphere

Our international mix of students and small class sizes create an informal atmosphere between students and tutors of which we are proud. This environment encourages students to build skills and knowledge rather than simply learning to pass exams.

Our Programmes

Our programmes are flexible so students can come for as little as one week and as long as eight weeks. This means students can fit us around other planned summer activities like family holidays or other travel plans.

All programmes are residential in nature, and take place on the campus of Oxford University. This affords students access to the university facilities and gives a taste of what it is like to study for a full time degree at the university.

Broadly speaking our programmes divide into three sections:

1. Programmes for Fluent English Speakers

For students under 18, we offer a large range of educational and cultural programmes. Popular choices include Creative Writing, Comparative Politics and Government, International Business and Management, Medical Biology and Experimental Psychology. We also offer the opportunity to do intensive preparation for university application, for example our Oxbridge or Medical school preparation courses. For those requiring SAT preparation, we offer sessions with the Princeton Review.

For students over 18, we run discussion courses on cultural topics ranging from “Shakespeare Immersion” to “Metaphors of Mind” to “Science & Society” and many more. These allow students to learn about a new subject area and to explore this further through interactive discussion and debate.

2. English as a Foreign Language

For non-English speakers of all ages, we run intensive English programmes, so whether it is expanding your vocabulary, brushing up on your conversation skills or learning for an exam, we have the course for you.

3. Tennis Academy

Tennis coaching academy for 10-17 year olds from all nations. Morning coaching lessons are balanced with exciting afternoon activities.

Instruction Methods

First and foremost our tutors encourage students to take a firm responsibility in their own studies. This means that outside of the classroom, they start to develop transferable skills through structuring their work, researching new topics, presenting material clearly and concisely and learning techniques to enhance memory and recall. Eventually students gain command of the nature and manner of their materials which in turn stimulates interest in the subject. These courses will remind students that learning can be about much more than passing exams and the skills students take away will aid in further studies at all levels and help students achieve their very best.

This is an exciting opportunity to broaden your horizons by spending your summer studying in Oxford with students from all over the world, so I look forward to seeing you in a class here soon.
