It is important to be clear that Oxford Royale Academy is not part of or otherwise affiliated to the University of Oxford. Students taking our programmes catch a glimpse of what it is like to study “at Oxford” (via, for example, immersion in the College environment, taking classes with tutors from the University, interaction with University undergraduate students and generally experiencing the Oxford student lifestyle), but it should be borne in mind that the programmes we offer are independent and are not endorsed by or operated under the aegis of the University. Some additional information is below:
-
Oxford Programs Limited, which operates Oxford Royale Academy (ORA) contracts with Oxford University for the use of its facilities, which means that students use the University lecture halls, dorms, dining halls, seminar rooms, sports facilities, common rooms, gardens and IT facilities.
-
ORA staff, many of whom are currently tutoring and/or studying at Oxford University, number about 150 during the Easter and Summer.
-
Our guest speakers usually hold a lecturing or tutoring position at Oxford University.
-
Our Counsellors (who support you during your free time as an ORA student) will often be studying for their undergraduate degree at Oxford University.
-
Many of our students will make a formal application to the University after taking their programme with ORA.
-
ORA was founded and is run by alumni of the Universities of Oxford, Cambridge and London.
-
If students wish to apply for an undergraduate or graduate degree course at any UK University, they will best to ask one of our staff members to talk through the various options with them and to advise on the application procedure. Our staff will also be able to take students to the Oxford University admissions offices to collect the University’s brochures and application materials.
-
ORA is registered with the British Government’s Department for Children, Schools and Families (formerly the DFES). Note that registration with the DCSF does not imply quality standards.
-
Our head office is located in the University of Oxford, but this is just for logistical reasons of the administration, staff recruitment and general supply of summer programmes and does not mean that Oxford Programs Limited and ORA are part of or otherwise affiliated with or operate under the aegis of Oxford University.
