Founded in 1517, Corpus Christi is the 12th oldest college in Oxford. The College played a central role in the translation of the King James Bible and its library was praised by the Humanist scholar Erasmus. For further information, please consult the college website (www.ccc.ox.ac.uk), where there are sections on many aspects of the College including its history. The Pelican features on the famous ’Pelican Sundial’ in the main quadrangle built by Charles Turnbull in 1581, the college flag, and the college crested tie.
Notable Alumni of the College include the educational reformer Thomas Arnold, philosopher Isaiah Berlin, the writer Vikram Seth and Labour Party leadership candidates Ed Miliband MP and David Miliband MP.
