During the Summer months, we offer a tennis programme for young players from all over the world. Our courses are accessible to all player standards from beginner to advanced level. Courses include use of the University of Oxford’s grass tennis courts, fitness training, history of the sport, classroom work and theory and on-court coaching. Students are accommodated full board in the University and take part in a social programme outside of training.
The Tennis Academy courses run for either 2 or 4 weeks in the months of July and August. A typical week will consist 15 coaching sessions and all teaching is underpinned by an understanding of the fundamentals of the game of tennis. In the afternoons, there are 6 academic session per week, where students can brush up on language or cultural skills.
Tennis coaching is carried out through verbal instruction, demonstration and individual close attention and correction. Each technique is habituated using fun games or challenging and competitive drills. There are two categories available organised according to the age of the student:
