Full board accommodation is included, along with all teaching and evening social events. Students will be coached on the University of Oxford grass courts.  Should the weather be unsuitable for playing on grass students will be taught on our clay courts. Students may choose between a two week course and a four week course in the month of July.

College Grounds

Students live in Fulford House, St. Hilda’s College, a part of the University situated just away from the city centre on the banks of the river Cherwell, and with wonderful views of Christ Church Meadows.

Fulford House (5 minutes walk from the main campus at St. Hilda’s) is ideally located, away from the noise and distraction of the city centre but well within walking distance of the local amenities. The College is also within short walking distance of the University sports grounds.

Accommodation: Students stay in single or twin rooms on staircases in the main college building or on corridors in Fulford House. All rooms are nicely furnished, most with shared bathroom facilities.

Full Board Meals: The College dining hall is on site and students sit down together each day to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner. If students are taking part in field trips, packed lunches are provided by the College, to allow a quick boarding of the coach. When out for dinner (for example if watching a play) students will enjoy a restaurant meal.

Laundry: Coin-operated washing machines and tumble dryers are available in various parts of the College. Every laundry room is supplied with an iron.

College History: Dorothea Beale, the eminent Victorian pioneer of women's education, founded the College in 1893. It expanded over the years from the initial intake of six women and now has over 500 undergraduate and graduate students.  In 2006, the Governing Body of the College voted to change its statutes so that men as well as women can be Fellows and students. The first male students will arrive at the College in October 2008.

St. Hilda’s Students: St. Hilda’s students pride themselves on their outstanding academic record; routinely obtaining the highest number of first-class degrees in English within Oxford.

Television and Film: The English television show ‘College Girls’ was filmed here in 2002.

Alumni: Many nationally acclaimed academics, politicians and poets have studied at Hilda’s and Jacqueline Du Pres is an honorary fellow. The Jacqueline du Pré Music Building, built in 1995, is situated in the College grounds and is used for the welcome reception and the graduation events.
