Immigration & Visas

Immigration & Visas

Immigration to the UK has become considerably stricter in the last couple of years and we strongly recommend checking that you require a visa to enter the country. You should go online and check your entry position by visiting http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/.

Students from EU and European Economic Area countries will not require a visa.

As all our courses are shorter than 6 months in duration all our students who require a visa will fall under the following categories:

  • Child Visitor Visa: For under 18s coming to the UK to undertake a short course of study as part of a visit of up to 6 months.
  • Student Visitor Visa: For students aged 18 and over coming to the UK for up to 6 months who do not intend to work and/or extend their stay.

There is no need for our student to aply for Tier 4 visas under the Points-Based System.

In addition to checking your visa requirements for entry into the UK please check your passport has sufficient time to run before its expiry.

Please note that the student is responsible for organising his or her visa ahead of time, and we will provide documentation to assist with the visa application. Please read our terms and conditions with respect to visas, which relate to such issues as visa rejection and border control.

Advice on receiving your visa on time

Your visa is more likely to be granted if you demonstrate the following on your application:

  • Make sure you fill in the form yourself.
  • Make sure the information you give is accurate, e.g. contact details.
  • Have your acceptance letter available, from Oxford Royale Academy, proving your position on a course.
  • If you are learning English, you should show why learning English and coming to England is useful and necessary for you.
  • For older students (above 18 years old) you must show that you have good reason to return home after your studies, e.g. for work.

Assistance from ORA staff

All students who need to apply for a visa can request a course registration confirmation letter from one of our staff. The personalised letter is signed and stamped by one of our staff members in accordance with embassy requirements.

Our contact details are provided with the letter in case the embassy or high commission staff need to further confirm details of the student's registration.

ORA also provide students with a visa information pack which contains useful information about how to apply for visa, including a list of visa nationals and advice on which type of visa to choose.

To ensure that the student's visa application process is speedy the letter can be sent to students using a courier delivery service. Please contact admin@oxford-royale.co.uk for details.

ORA Accreditation

Our accreditation by the British Council and British Accreditation Council as well as membership of English UK and Study UK provides further support to a student's visa application. In terms of UKBA regulations, we are also an accredited Tier 4 and Tier 2 provider.

Parental letter of consent

ORA provide all students with a template of a parental letter of consent which the student's parents sign to authorise the student travelling to the UK on their own to attend an Oxford Royale Academy course. The letter also includes a note to immigration officers outlining our contact details should they need to get in touch with one of our staff member on the day of the student's arrival in the UK.
