Oxford Royale Academy (ORA) is a British company with a real passion for international education. Each year our team works harder to compile exceptional academic and cultural programmes, bringing together wonderful tutors, energetic counsellors, brilliant guest speakers and professional support staff. This year, ORA expects to welcome over 600 students to the historic city of Oxford, and we hope you can join us. Many of our students come back year after year to either take a new programme or to take a different subject combination. ORA's brilliant range of academic, sporting and cultural options is ever strengthening and its international reach is broadening. With our excellent team of private tutors we are also able to offer individual tuition in a large number of academic, musical and cultural disciplines. For example, students can take private classes to improve their SAT scores, take piano lessons or even public speaking lessons. If there is something you wish to study, the chances are that we will have a tutor to teach you privately. Getting to Oxford could never be easier or more economical with airlines offering great return flights to London from most countries in the world. If you are thinking of joining ORA we have just one piece of advice - just do it! Our Staff Members For a complete list of the team, please ask. Teaching Staff Our teachers come from a variety of different backgrounds, some are teaching or have taught for the University of Oxford and some are well-established local tutors. Our experienced and welcoming faculty offers ORA students a diverse range of teaching specialties and skills. In addition, ORA alumni students have rated the teaching as one of the best aspects of their experiences in Oxford, many reporting a perfect 10. The informal interaction between faculty and students, combined with an international mix of students makes for a truly fascinating learning environment. Student Counsellors Our "Student Counsellors" are there to ensure students are looked after during their free time and weekends. Students are able to talk informally and frankly with Counsellors in order to suggest ideas for excursions or to raise concerns. The Counsellors also chaperone the students on field trips and weekend tours. Many of the Counsellors are undergraduate students at Oxford and they will know the city well. The Counsellors aim make sure students get the most out of their stay with ORA. Client Services When you make a reservation, you will be in touch with our Client Services Team who will guide you though your various options and assist with your booking. You can reach them on +44 (0) 845 130 60 21. Our Students Welcoming the Young and Old Our students attend from all over the world and range in age from 10 to 80 years. Young Students "Young" students from schools and universities are well motivated academically and will be ambitious, creative and hard working. Students usually hold a wide variety of extracurricular interests and skills, and they are generally "rounded" individuals who will contribute in more than one area of the programme. Adult Students ORA also offers programmes for Adult learners. In the past we have welcomed doctors, lawyers, company executives, teachers and people from many other careers - working or retired. Motivation for taking a programme varies, some requiring a short break to enhance their cultural education, others simply wanting to relax in the grounds of an Oxford College. Whatever your personal goals, there will certainly be a programme available that will suit your requirements. ORA and Oxford University It is important to be clear that Oxford Royale Academy is not part of or otherwise affiliated to the University of Oxford. Students taking our programmes catch a glimpse of what it is like to study "at Oxford" (via, for example, immersion in the College environment, taking classes with tutors from the University, interaction with University undergraduate students and generally experiencing the Oxford student lifestyle), but it should be borne in mind that the programmes we offer are independent and are not endorsed by or operated under the aegis of the University. Some additional information is below: Oxford Royale Academy is accredited by the British Council and the British Accreditation Council. Oxford Programs Limited, which operates Oxford Royale Academy (ORA) contracts with Oxford University for the use of its facilities, which means that students use the University lecture halls, dorms, dining halls, seminar rooms, sports facilities, common rooms, gardens and IT facilities. ORA staff, many of whom are currently tutoring and/or studying at Oxford University, number about 115 during the Easter and Summer. Our guest speakers usually hold a lecturing or tutoring position at Oxford University. Our Counsellors (who support you during your free time as an ORA student) will often be studying for their undergraduate degree at Oxford University. Many of our students will make a formal application to the University after taking their programme with ORA. ORA was founded and is run by alumni of the Universities of Oxford, Cambridge and London. If students wish to apply for an undergraduate or graduate degree course at any UK University, they will be able to ask one of our staff members to talk through the various options with them and to advise on the application procedure. Our staff will also be able to take students to the Oxford University admissions offices to collect the University's brochures and application materials. ORA is registered with the British Government's Department for Children, Schools and Families (formerly the DFES). Note that registration with the DCSF does not imply quality standards. Our head office is located in the University of Oxford, but this is just for logistical reasons of the administration, staff recruitment and general supply of summer programmes and does not mean that Oxford Programs Limited and ORA are part of or otherwise affiliated with or operate under the aegis of Oxford University.
