While immersed in an English speaking environment and the rich tradition of Oxford culture, students will improve their English through diverse learning experiences in and out of the classroom.
This Programme consists of several features:
This programme includes 15 hours per week of tuition and focuses on improving all four English language skills:
Our multi-cultural English curriculum emphasises these skills through the following components:
The Adult English Programme is appropriate for intermediate to advanced level English language students.
As part of the programme daily activities and evening events are laid on by our staff. During the afternoons students have an opportunity to visit many of Oxford's most famous colleges and explore the fascinating museums, galleries and gardens. Oxford also has many great shopping locations, cinemas, theatres and parks. There will also be chances to play croquet on the college lawns, visit the University Botanic Gardens and take a tour of the famous Bodleian Library.
Evening events include quiz nights, trips to the theatre, scrabble competitions, boat trips, evening recitals and visits to the many famous pubs in the city centre. In addition there are formal evening events and meals in the dinning hall for all the students.
All of our adult programmes take place in Corpus Christi College, University of Oxford. Corpus is in the heart of the city centre minutes from the main shopping, eating and transport locations. The college was founded in 1517 and boasts a unique front quad, classic college cloisters and a beautiful fellows garden. The back of the college over looks the famous gardens and meadows of Christ Church.
Single rooms on the campus are provided, which are homely and well lit. The rooms are all set in the college, seconds from the teaching rooms, dining hall and the common room. En suite bedrooms are available however the numbers are limited, so therefore it is advisable to reserve your place early.
The college has a common room with comfortable chairs for relaxation, a bar for an evening drink, a traditional college dinning hall and a lecture theatre.
The programme includes breakfast and dinner in the college dining hall. Tea, coffee and biscuits are available in the morning in the common room. Students with dietary requirements need to provide details when they apply. Locations for lunch are plentiful, nearby and cheap.

Our teachers come from a variety of different backgrounds, some are teaching or have taught for the University of Oxford and some are well-established local tutors. Our experienced and welcoming faculty offers ORA students a diverse range of teaching specialties and skills. In addition, ORA alumni students have rated the teaching as one of the best aspects of their experiences in Oxford, many reporting a perfect 10.
The programme is run by a director who along with a team of friendly counsellors operates the day to day running of the programme. The Counsellors ensure that our students are looked after during their stay and have everything they need. As they are often students of the University themselves they will be able to give first hand information on life in Oxford.
In terms of the demographics of the attendance of the programme, students come to ORA from all over the world. Studying alongside students from diverse backgrounds and learning more about different experiences, ambitions and cultures is a central part of the ORA experience.
