On day 51 of the Olympic Torch relay the flame was punted along the River Cam into the centre of the historic university city. With the rain that has marked the British summer pouring down, the Olympic Torch lit up the river as it was carried by volunteer and community worker Edward Roberts.

The torch had started its journey in the grounds of Trinity College Cambridge, where it made a loop of the college’s main court, in honour of the famous film Chariots of Fire.
We hope that some of our students at Clare College Cambridge had the opportunity to see the flame continue on its journey to London.
