Our Staff

Teaching Staff

Our adult summer courses are taught by knowledgeable and enthusiastic academic staff.  Staff are appointed to Oxford Royale adult summer courses because they are experts in their field, can demonstrate a passion for their subject, and can convey that passion to our students.  In the main, the teaching staff come from Oxford University, but we also recruit from other universities both in the UK and abroad.

All staff are rigorously interviewed before taking up posts with ORA, and we encourage our tutors to make classes interactive and participatory for all students, and to enable all students to leave their chosen course with a range of new knowledge and understanding of their chosen topic.

We monitor and inspect our classes to make sure that our students are receiving the very best learning experience, and we are very proud of the high teaching standards our tutors demonstrate.  Our classes have also been inspected by the British Accreditation Council who have remarked upon the exciting, challenging and innovative lessons they have observed.

Counsellors

Our counsellors are there to ensure students are looked after during their free time and weekends. Students are able to talk informally and frankly with counsellors in order to suggest ideas for activities or to raise concerns. The counsellors also accompany the students on field trips and weekend tours. Many of the counsellors are undergraduate students at the University of Oxford and they know the city well. The counsellors make sure students get the most out of their stay with ORA.

Our Students

Oxford Royale Adult Summer School welcomes adult students from a wide variety of backgrounds, ages and professions. We have previously welcomed visitors between the ages of 18 and 88, and their professions have included doctors, lawyers, company executives, teachers, homemakers, novelists, and journalists.  Some of our visitors are still studying at university, while others are returning to study in retirement. Motivation for taking a programme varies, some people requiring a short break to enhance their cultural education and stimulate their mind, others simply wanting to soak up the enchanting atmosphere of Oxford in the summertime.

Whatever your personal goals, Oxford Royale Adult Summer School has a programme for you.

Oxford Royale Academy also runs programmes for younger students aged 13-18. Click here for more information: www.oxford-royale.co.uk

ORA & The University of Oxford

It is important to be clear that Oxford Royale Academy is not part of or otherwise affiliated to the University of Oxford.

Students taking our programmes catch a glimpse of what it is like to study at Oxford via for example immersion in the college environment, taking classes with tutors from the University, interaction with University undergraduate students and generally experiencing the Oxbridge student lifestyle, but it should be borne in mind that the programmes we offer are independent and are not endorsed by either organisation.

Some additional information is below:
