ORA is delighted to stay as a guest at Clare College of the University of Cambridge over the summer months.
Clare College Cambridge was founded in the year 1326, making it the second oldest constituent college of the University. ORA students staying in Clare will immediately be charmed by its enviable riverside location, part of the iconic ‘Backs’ curving alongside the River Cam – expect to see tourists and locals gliding by on their punts. It can feel hard to believe that the bustling city centre is so nearby, yet Clare has King’s Parade – one of Cambridge’s most popular thoroughfares – on its doorstep.
Along with this venerable pedigree, the college also has a reputation for liberalism and inclusivity – it was among the first three colleges in Cambridge to admit female students in 1972. Today the college remains highly popular for prospective students, and takes pride in the transparency of its admissions process.
Clare is known for the beauty of its architecture, and features two Oxbridge-style quadrangles: Memorial Court and Old Court. Between them students will have a wealth of atmospheric space in which to relax and study.
Students will be accommodated in standard undergraduate twin bedrooms. Students will be kept separate by gender.

In the college, students are overseen by the Programme Director, who implements the day-to-day running of the programme. The Director is assisted by a team of Counsellors who very often are current members of the University of Oxford or University of Cambridge.
The Counsellors ensure that students are looked after pastorally, culturally and socially during their programme. Students are able to talk informally and frankly to the Counsellors in order to raise concerns or to discuss university applications.
Each campus has a few members of residential staff who live in the college throughout the programme and are able to assist students at any time of the day or night.
Oxford Royale Summer Schools is an organisation which contracts Clare College for the use of facilities, but which otherwise has no connection or association with Clare College or the University of Cambridge.
