about the Oxford Summer School for Juniors
Students on our junior summer school live and study in the superb surroundings of St Mary’s Ascot, previously named Public School of the Year by Tatler magazine.
The 55-acre site is used exclusively by our 8-12 age group for the duration of the summer school, ensuring full supervision and security within a leafy, spacious location. The school boasts a swimming pool, theatre, tennis courts, state of the art canteen and more, alongside comfortable accommodation and many advanced teaching spaces.
At Oxford Royale, we pride ourselves on our international mix, and students on all of our programmes are encouraged to learn about each other’s cultures and backgrounds – both in lessons and while partaking in our rich and varied extracurricular programme.
Those on our Junior English Programme enjoy shared excursions and activities with native and fluent English speakers, boosting their conversational ability.
Our junior summer school programmes are tailored to the intellectually curious child, and our expert course development and teaching staff combine academic excellence with a real sense of fun – our aim is to send each student home with a renewed enthusiasm for their school subjects!
Classes will be interactive, with carefully crafted lesson plans and intellectually stimulating materials for students.
From fascinating classroom projects to excursions around the UK, we ensure every child’s timetable is action-packed and full of fun.
Just like our programmes for older students, our Junior Summer School seeks to foster a love of learning, paired with a sense of belonging to the ORA community; many students make friends on their ORA summer course and then return year on year to catch up and try out new subjects or locations.
Our Academic Discovery (ages 8-10) and Academic Discovery Plus (ages 11-12) programmes explore the Arts and Sciences through a different ‘key question’ every week. As well as our academic programmes we offer a junior ‘learn English’ course enabling students aged 8-12 to develop their language skills in a fully immersive environment.
The Junior English Programme is differentiated by ability and integrates perfectly with our extra-curricular activities, giving non-native speakers a real head start in the language, perfect if they wish to study in an English-speaking country in the future.
The Junior English Programme is designed to provide students aged 8-12 with a summer course to improve their spoken and written English language skills. The course is aimed at students who want to improve their English and even study in the UK in the future!

Our Academic Discovery Programme offers students aged 8-10 the opportunity to live and study in St Mary’s Ascot, a top UK boarding school. For each week-long session, students study a key question in detail, from a variety of STEM and Arts perspectives. A key-question led approach assists students in their development of critical skills for future learning, including evaluation, argument and analysis.

For each week-long session, students choose to follow either the STEM stream or the Arts and Humanities stream, and then investigate a key question for the duration of their week’s study. Key-question led enquiry removes the focus on memorising facts, and focuses instead on developing each student’s ability to analyse, evaluate, argue and debate – vital skills for their future education and employment. Residential in the inspiring UK boarding school environment of St Mary’s School, in Ascot.

I had an amazing time at ORA. Every student was incredibly friendly and smart, and I had a wonderful time getting to know each and every person. My time at ORA flew by and by the time it was time to leave I couldn’t believe I was leaving my new friends. I highly recommend the programme as an opportunity to make friends and learn about other cultures.
I have had an incredibly fun, cultivating experience at Oxford Royale Academy. I have gained so much knowledge that will help me with studies and in life. I have also met the most incredibly intelligent people. The memories I have made here will stay with me for life as I am so happy to have stayed in Oxford.
Oxford Royale was the best summer camp I have ever attended. Not only did I learn a lot through the course, but I also met people from all over the world. In addition, I really got to know my fellow students and the counselors through the time we spent together on the excursions and evening activities. Overall, this was an awesome experience and I would recommend it to pretty much anyone.
