This online course is ideal preparation for students thinking of studying zoology, biochemistry, medicine, and related subjects at universityOnline CourseInstant Start!4-6 hours studyAges 16+
This course includes:
Zoology is the study of the diversity of animal life that exists in the world around us. It focuses on the ways in which animals have adapted to the often difficult environments they inhabit, and how they live, find food, and reproduce. It is an extremely broad topic and one that gets broader every year – indeed, approximately 10,000 new species are discovered every year!
This course will therefore provide you with an introduction to the fascinating topic of zoology, giving you a broad overview of animal diversity, evolution, anatomy, and behaviour. It will also look more closely at the topic of genetics, discussing how small changes in DNA can lead to large evolutionary changes in animal biology. This process of evolution will then be examined in more detail with particular reference to the theories of evolution propounded by Charles Darwin.
Throughout this course you will be introduced to the major topics that are likely to be covered in a first year university course as well as the major areas of Zoology in which you can specialise later on in your studies, offering an insight into what studying this varied field is like as well as giving you material to bolster your application.
