ORA students aged 16 to 18 attend a unique learning experience: the Oxford Royale Academy Collaborative Learning Event (ORACLE).

Every year we host ORACLE for our 16-18 year old students. These events are designed to open our students’ eyes to a range of interesting topics which fall outside of those usually learned in school classrooms. The sessions are designed with interactivity in mind, with plenty of opportunities for students to ask questions and delve deeper into the topics that interest them.

Explore a wide variety of topics

Taking notes
Students choose from an extensive range of speakers, each of whom is an expert in their nominated topic. Listed below are some of our past ORACLE speakers:

  • Professor Sophie Marnette, fellow of Balliol college and a specialist in Modern Linguistics and French Medieval Literature.
  • Shamim Gammage, a doctoral researcher specialising in the economic history of rap music.
  • Daniela Papi-Thornton, the Deputy Director of the Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship.
  • Professor Richard Dawkins, author and evolutionary biologist.
  • Kyle Grant, a DPhil candidate specialising in Astrobiology, working in collaboration with NASA.

Enhance your skills for a high-flying career

In addition to these talks, workshops provide students with vital skills and information to equip them for high-flying careers in the increasingly competitive global environment. Going beyond the realms of the standard careers workshop, we focus on students’ goals and work on the creation of an action plan for achieving them in future, so they can have confidence in their own aspirations.

Engage in a different approach to learning

ORACLE creates a truly varied learning environment, encouraging discussion, debate and genuine engagement with the speakers’ ideas. ORACLE is multidisciplinary, taking students beyond the tired dichotomy between the arts and the sciences into the range of things they can explore in their future education.

ORACLE is just one of many additional features of an ORA summer course. Click here to browse our summer courses and start your journey today  ➙
