London Summer English - a rigorous London English summer course delivered by Oxford Royale Academy - enables students to improve their knowledge of English, both written and spoken, whilst living in the buzzing heart of the UK in Imperial College, London.
As well as ensuring students make rapid progress in their written, read and spoken English, the London Summer English course ensures that students experience England and English culture as much as they intensively learn its language. The enjoyable learning environment, inspirational city and like-minded individuals on the course enable students to improve their knowledge of the challenging language in a fun setting.
Teachers on this English as a Foreign Language (EFL) programme are qualified according to British Council standards (CELTA, Trinity CertTESOL or equivalent Level 5 TEFL qualification). ORA has its own English programme developed by EFL experts and maximises student learning in small class sizes.
This course will help students improve their English skills for general contexts, focusing on the use of spoken language and knowledge of grammar. It will also teach lessons on syntax and vocabulary, alongside improving English reading and writing skills, in order to give a thorough understanding of the language.
Teaching on the London Summer English course encourages independent learning alongside rigorous in-class study, while enrichment and leisure activities outside of class help students to gain an insight into various aspects of British culture, ensuring a rounded appreciation of the language and its homeland.
ORA promotes a coherent, multi-cultural approach to learning the English language, where students can share ideas and focus on the positive aspects of actively expanding their English abilities.
By the end of this course, students will have :

Take this course if you are preparing to apply for an English-speaking university, want to boost your English skills in readiness for use in an academic context, and want to experience life in a top UK university - Imperial College.
The most bustling of all our centres, London is a cosmopolitan hotspot where students can really experience the melting pot of the United Kingdom. Our London summer school takes place in Imperial College London, situated in the desirable Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. Students will stay in accommodation at Prince’s Gardens, located just a stone’s throw from such iconic London landmarks as the Natural History Museum, the Science Museum, and the Royal Albert Hall.
Students will live and study in Imperial College London, experiencing student life in one of the world’s most respected and prestigious academic institutions. As well as ranking consistently in the top ten universities worldwide, Imperial has already produced an impressive number of Nobel Laureates – no mean feat considering the university was officially founded as recently as 1907.
Students in London will experience life in the buzzing heart of the UK's capital, while fulfilling their educational ambitions and enjoying the summer experience of their lives. Learn more about all that our London Summer School has to offer.
Students will be accommodated in comfortable single or twin rooms depending on their allocated college - please contact our registrations team if you would like more information. Twin rooms are strictly between students of the same gender, and males/females are separated by corridoor and/or staircase. Accommodation is the standard accommodation for university undergraduates who study at the university, so students are able to get a flavour for what being an undergraduate at the university might be like. Bathrooms are typically shared between students of the same gender, though in some cases en-suite facilities are available.
The programme is overseen by the Programme Director, who implements the day-to-day running of the programme. The Director is assisted by a team of Counsellors who very often are current members of the University of Oxford or University of Cambridge. The Counsellors ensure that students are looked after pastorally, culturally and socially during their programme. Students are able to talk informally and frankly to the Counsellors in order to raise concerns or to discuss university applications. Each campus has members of residential staff who live in the college throughout the programme and are able to assist students at any time of the day or night.
